Open Letter to the AIMC Berkeley Community:
The Learning Resource Center (LRC) strives to provide a library that is as accessible as possible for its many users. This letter is a reminder of the LRC’s policies regarding library access, including key check-out privileges to Volunteer Library Supervisors. This privilege is available only through the responsible use of library resources and a high level of personal accountability on the part of library users. Please read the following carefully to help the library serve you well.
VOLUNTEER LIBRARY SUPERVISOR ORIENTATION:
The LRC has a system in place to allow the AIMC Berkeley community access to the library throughout building open hours, regardless of staff presence. All students may go through a Volunteer Library Supervisor (VLS) Orientation gain key check-out privileges during times the library is closed. If you are interested in taking this 20-minute orientation, please arrange a time with LRC staff.
If VLS Orientation guidelines are infringed upon, key check-out privileges will be revoked for the individual(s) involved, and library hours may be restricted to hours that the library is staffed. If you need a copy of your signed contract as a reminder of VLS policy, please ask the librarian.
MISSING BOOKS:
At times reference books have disappeared for short periods and then returned. AIMC Berkeley is pleased for their return, however, during their absence students have no access to that important information. Please do not remove reference books from the library or clinic for any amount of time.
In addition to these temporary disappearances, the library has recently experienced the loss of several books, including vital reference texts. While we understand that these disappearances may be unintentional, unfortunately students will now either be without these valuable resources or will need to purchase them on their own. When books are removed many people in the AIMC Berkeley community are at a disadvantage; students, faculty, and clients depend on this information for study and treatment. Please return any books you find that belong LRC or Clinic Libraries.
DONATION PROGRAM
We have a donation program for items that have disappeared from the clinic and reference collections, as well as for texts to add to the collections. Please see Mahate Osborn, the librarian, if you would like to contribute a cash or book donation in service to the library.
